Katie Scott named head coach for Drury women’s rugby

SPRINGFIELD, MO.- Drury University Vice President and Director of Athletics, announced Katie Scott as the first-ever head coach for the women's rugby program.

 

Scott currently plays and is the founder of the Queen City Chaos, a Springfield Women's Rugby club, and serves as an assistant coach and team captain. The team was founded in 2015. Scott also serves on the Springfield Rugby Football Club Board of Directors and is a USA Rugby certified coach at Level 200.

 

In 2018, she started the Springfield high school girl's rugby club and currently serves as their head coach. Scott was on the Cayman Islands women's rugby team from 2008-2010.

 

"We are very excited that coach Scott will be the inaugural coach of our new women's rugby program," said Bray. "Her experience founding the Queen City Chaos and a local high school team, as well as her USA Rugby level 200 coach certification, provide a great foundation upon which Drury University will build its women's rugby program with outstanding student-athletes who will represent the university well in the classroom, in the community and in competition.  Please join me in welcoming coach Scott to the Panthers family."

 

Scott has a degree in Animal Science from Missouri State, a Master's degree in Epidemiology from St. George's University in Wisconsin, and has two years of study as a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from St. Matthew's University on Grand Cayman Island. She has worked with the Greene County Health Department since 2015 as a Public Health Investigator.

 

Women's rugby is one of seven new club sports Drury will launch in the 2022-23 academic year.
