Chaos Take on Ruggerfest

By Coach Jody 05/25/2018, 1:15am CDT

On April 7th and 8th, the Chaos traveled to St Louis for the 70th Annual Ruggerfest Tournament. The weather was some of the coldest anyone could remember playing in.

In the opening match, we took on league rival Kansas Bison. It was a very hard fought match and the Bison took the day with a score of 12-17. We had a 1 hour break to regroup and warm up before taking on the ladies of Miami (OH) University. Chaos won 67-15 and were finished for the day.

We finished second in Pool A so Sunday morning saw us take on the winners of Pool B, Iowa State University. Again it was a narrow match which the Chaos won by a conversion, 14-12.

Winning that match put us into the Championship match where we had a chance to avenge our loss from Saturday morning to the Bison.  Both teams play a physical style of rugby and the score was tied at half time 0-0. The players on both teams dug deep in the final half and at the end Chaos were victorious 12-5.

You can see the trophy on display at the bar at The Pitch Pizza & Pub.

Serena and Chiara celebrating Chiara's first try!!

Chaos vs Black Sheep

By Coach Jody 03/29/2018, 1:45pm CDT

On March 10 the Chaos took on the Mid-Mo Black Sheep at home.  The Chaos opened scoring early when Emily "Tank" Holloway went across. The Sheep came back with 2 quick tries and 1 conversion.  The forwards were doing a great job securing the ball which paid off with a first time try for Chiara Citterio. The Sheep scored again putting the score at 10-17. Shortly before half time Serena Austin went across for her first of the day. Kaitlin Evans tacked on the conversion to put the score even at the half.

The Chaos came out from the half on fire and quickly added 2 more tries from Serena and another conversion from Kaitlin. The Sheep broke the line and got in for another try and conversion. Serena scored again with no conversion but the Sheep weren't done, scoring another converted try. But it was too little too late and at the final whistle the Chaos took the W. Final score 34-31.  Tries by Tank, Chiara, and Serena (4). Conversions Kaitlin (2). Forward of the match was Fanny Austin. Back of the match was Serena Austin. No, they are not related.
