The Southern Missouri Goonies Rugby Football Club (Goonies RFC) is more than a team. It’s a movement.
We’re here to help build strong young men through rugby, teamwork, and community. Our mission is simple: help boys in the 417 area grow into disciplined, confident, and capable young men on and off the field.
Spring Training is in Session!
You don’t have to be here from day one to join the team. Rugby is a sport you can step into at any point in the season. Whether you’re brand new, returning after a break, or just curious, you’re welcome whenever you can make it. Come as you are, train at your pace, and find your place with us on the pitch.

We want ALL OF YOU! BIG, small, athletic, unathletic, fast, slow. Rugby is for EVERYONE! All shapes, sizes, and abilities are welcome on the rugby pitch. We'll teach you about all phases of the game as we prepare for our first season as a team.

Who are we?
Goonies RFC is a brand-new high school rugby team under the Springfield Rugby Football Club umbrella and we’re ready to make our mark.
We train at the Springfield Rugby Pitch and compete every spring against teams from St. Louis, Kansas City, Oklahoma, and Arkansas. Our mission: to teach young men the game of rugby, develop leadership, and compete with heart, passion, and respect.

Goonies RFC follows USA Rugby and local high school guidelines to keep our players safe, eligible, and proud to represent the Goonies.
Eligibility

Open to all high school boys (grades 9–12) in Springfield and surrounding areas

Must register with USA Rugby (for insurance coverage)

Must commit to safety, teamwork, and sportsmanship

Every player signs a Code of Conduct because character matters here
Our Safety Promise
We don’t take shortcuts when it comes to our players’ well-being. Every athlete learns proper tackling techniques, concussion awareness, and injury prevention. Parents, your son will be in a structured, positive, and disciplined environment built around mentorship and growth.
