Rugger Mortis 2025 Recap

SPRINGFIELD, MO – May 17, 2025 — The 2nd annual Rugger Mortis Old Boys Tournament returned in full force this year, delivering an unforgettable day of old school rugby followed by a crawfish boil, a boat race, and tons of Ibuprofen. Hosted by the Springfield Rugby Foundation, the event gave a bunch of once-great ruggers the perfect excuse to knock the dust off their boots, knock their brothers around, and knock back some cold beers at the Springfield Rugby Pitch.

The tournament featured two competitive age divisions, including a 35 - 44 bracket and a 45+ exhibition match. Teams came from Kansas City and Wichita to compete in our new old boys tournament.

🏆 35 - 44 CHAMPIONS: KC Blues Old Boys

With a perfect 3 - 0 record, the Kansas City Blues dominated the 35 - 44 division, showcasing speed, structure, and that natural KC Blues flair we all know and love. They shut Springfield and KC Northlands out completely and outscored everyone 132 to 5 on the day. Well done fellas!

In a fierce and physical match, the Wichita Old Boys took home bragging rights in the 45+ exhibition. Well done to both teams for a match well played!

Spectators were treated to:

✅  Sunny skies and a cool breeze made it an ideal backdrop for rugby, food, and fun!
